Wow, how time flies!

Well, I can hardly believe we've been home 3 months already. Lidia continues to absorb every scrap of knowledge she can.

She is up to 23 lbs and 10 ounces!

She loves to dance and loves music. She knows the hand motions to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider and 5 Little Monkies Jumping on the Bed.
She signs the words more, please, all done and help-- tries to sign cup and thank you.
She says Hi, bye, daddy, meow, oof-off, thank you, uh oh (or uh oooo as the case may be), peek-a-boo (or puh-boo)
Words she has said but won't repeat: yes, kitty and more

She also shakes her head yes and no--always yes to a question, even though she doesn't always know what you are asking.

All in all we are so happy that she is learning so much and she seems happy, too.

I can hardly remember what it was like not to have her around. She manages to make me laugh every day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

A couple days late, but Happy Valentine's Day!

We are doing wonderfully. Lidia is adjusting so well and we cannot believe the things she is absorbing and learning in such a short amount of time!

I think I mentioned that she started walking 4 days after we came home. She gave us little time to get adjusted! Now she is practically running!

She is sleeping a solid 12 hours through the night (every once in a while she'll wake up during the night), which we are loving. Her mood is almost always great and she is slowly bonding to us. She is still willing to go to pretty much anyone who has their arms out, but she almost always returns to us and often turns to us if she is scared or tired. (though she has little fear of anything!)

She loves to torment the cats, but she doesn't know she's tormenting them. They're not too thrilled with her and generally just keep a 3 foot radius from her.

Lidia learned her first word (bye bye--accompanied by the sweetest little wave) a few weeks ago.
She is also saying "hi" now (to EVERYONE we pass in the store) and da da for daddy.
She barks like a dog if you say "woof woof" and also tries to meow.
When told to blow kisses, she does so with finesse.
She also signs the word more and uses that sign often when she just wants something.
Goodness, what else? Oh yes, the other day she cheered when daddy came home. It was the funniest thing... a big "yeaaa!" and clap upon his entrance.

We are still in total awe at how much she has learned in only 1 month home! Her brain is like a sponge...

Adam and I are adjusting well to parenthood. I am still getting my weekly routine down, as far as getting things done around the kids (I watch another little boy during the day who is 6 months), but over all we are really loving it.

I am posting a pic or 2, also, just wanted to post an update for anyone still reading this!

Goodbye for now!

Finally catching up on sleep...

Well, obviously we have had our hands full and have not been able to post anything new in a few days.

We arrived home around 10:45pm on Saturday night. The car ride went okay, though Lidia was not thrilled about being strapped in the carseat. She konked out after about 30 minutes on the road.

At home we were greeted by signs and balloons on the house and a 6 foot tall wooden stork on the lawn. Quite funny. Lidia opened some gifts that night. She loved the tissue paper and gift bags, of course! We had our first visitors--Jenny (my best friend) and Sara (our good friend from next door). They just could not wait (though I couldn't blame them. Lidia wowwed everyone. Around midnight she was finally settled down enough to do a bath and in bed by 12:30.

The first night she slept fairly well. The 2nd night, not so well. The 3rd night on, she has slept through much of the night, though she cries out randomly most of the night. Not enough that we need to get her--just a bit of fussing in her sleep. Last night was the best night. I didn't hear her at all until after 5. She cried out a couple times, then settled back in and slept till just now (8:00). I think we are finally getting on a schedule!

Tuesday, Lidia had her first doctor's appointment. It went well. She is 18 lbs 8oz, 26 1/2 inches tall. He's a little concerned that she is so small for her age. He would like to see her grow and see her head circumference go up. He wants us to give her pediasure twice a day (Wow is that stuff expensive!!) to help boost her growth and nutrition.
They gave her 2 vaccinations and a tb test. Then they drew her blood. That was not a fun experience. Her veins were very small and hard to find. They ended up getting some out of her vein, then couldn't get anymore and decided to prick her finger and milk out what they could. Despite the trauma of it all, she did pretty well. She, of course, was not a happy baby during, but afterward I think she forgave them.

Oh, we also found out that she had an ear infection while at the doc, in the left ear. So, he put her on zithromax so that should clear it up.

On Wednesday she woke up with a fever. I am not sure if it was because of the ear infection or the vaccinations. She was on motrin/tylenol all of that day. Yesterday she was doing better, though the fever was still hanging on, just not as high.

Things are going pretty good, overall. She is adjusting well. Her appetite has been decreased, but probably because of the antibiotics and not feeling well. She is drinking all of her pediasure and formula.
She loves her baths, now. She hangs out in the tub for a good 20 minutes or more, most nights. She is still not so happy about the car seat.

She would rather play with things like paper, gift bags and cardboard than her toys (typical toddler smile )

Her 12 month clothes are fitting her, most of them with room to grow. She's even able to wear some of her 18 month jammies so long as they have elastic at the legs to keep them from falling over her feet smile She is very short. Even her 12 month pants are too long by a couple inches. I will be curious to see how much she has grown when we go back for our check-up next month!

Anyway, I need to go upstairs and make sure the kiddo gets her breakfast.

I will post a couple more pictures for those junkies needing some wink

(Roberta told me Midstate was missing them!!)
